William J. Mealia, Chairman and Past President
Bill has been with B.B. Miller & Co. since 1972. His experience has
been acquired from three different sides of insurance: the brokerage,
the corporate buyer, and the provider. He was employed by Chubb and INA, insurance providers, and by Pfizer, Inc., the pharmaceutical giant where he handled the negotiation and purchase of all property insurance coverages. Currently, he presides over the daily operations of the agency staff and assists the general public by putting personal and business programs together in the best interest of the client.
During his career, Bill has served on many industry boards and company/agent councils. He served as an officer and Director of the Independent Insurance Agents of Union County and also the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey. While on the state level, he chaired many various committees and was honored as Chairperson of the Year.
Bill is married for 43 years and has two adult daughters. He and his wife JoAnne reside in Scotch Plains and have lived there for 37 years. Active in his community, he coached girl's softball for many years, served on the Township of Scotch Plains insurance committee, and is a very involved member of Rotary International. Bill is also an active member of his church where he serves on the finance committee and liturgy committee.

Merritt Miller Duffy, President
As the fourth generation owner of B.B. Miller & Company, Merritt joined the organization in 1993 after working for St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company as a Senior Underwriting Specialist for financial institutions. Her extensive insurance background includes experience with coverages and premium determinations for financial, commercial, and medical insurance policies.
She is a Certified Insurance Counselor, and graduate of both Cedar Crest College (1988) and Fairleigh Dickinson University (2008). Her affiliations over the years include Adirondack Camp in upstate NY, the National Association of Insurance Women and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.
Currently, she serves on Board of Director’s for the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce and the 200 Club of Union County. In 1997 she was honored with a Silver Life Card Award from the PBA. Merritt was also awarded the 1999 Director of Distinction Award from Junior Achievement and was a National Nominee for Elementary School Classroom Volunteer of the Year and Bronze Leadership Award winner in 2000.
